(2010-06-04)New regulations for Zhengzhou government investment projects

Starting this year, the semiconductor lighting (LED energy-saving lamps) should be used for new roads, parks, squares and other government investment projects of Zhengzhou, otherwise, the project will not be approved. Yesterday, Zhengzhou government promulgated the "Implementation Plan semiconductor lighting application " to encourage the community to install energy-saving LED lamps.

Zhengzhou government plans to promote to use 120,000pcs of energy-saving LED lamps by 2015. According to this plan, the 120,000 LED lights include 78000pcs of street lamps, 20000pcs of  Metro lamps and 22000pcs of garden lamps and corridor lamps. The government estimates that with using these energy saving lamps, annual energy saving would be over 90 million kwh, and the annual electricity saving RMB 63 million as well as the annual savings in maintenance costs RMB 55 million.

To achieve this goal, Zhengzhou will build 20 new demo roads, 10 demo parks, 100 demo communities and 2 demo subway Line within 5 years. From 2010 onwards, new roads, parks, squares, alteration of the government-funded projects involved in the lighting products, in principle, should be adopted energy-saving LED lights, otherwise the relevant government departments shall reject the project. Among them, demo roads include partial sections of 10 principal arterials and minor arterial like the Central Plains Road, Songshan road, Garden Road etc. As for the LED energy-saving lamps installed in the community and subway, the Government will arrange one-time subsidy for the for those units.
